Accomplishments

• Provided a unified voice for statewide water development since 1995.

• Helped secure the increase of the Resources Trust Fund allocation from 10 to 20 percent for water development.

• Successfully lobbied to have the Resources Trust Fund used exclusively for water project development.

• Established a statewide Water Priorities Plan each biennium.

• Worked to secure state funds and bonding authority for water development each Legislative session.

• Helped enact the Water Development Trust Fund in 1999, which provides a statewide water development plan and dedicates 45 percent of the tobacco settlement dollars to water.

• Helped enact the Dakota Water Resources Act, to provide $200 million for state MR&I, $200 million for Indian MR&I and $200 million  for Red River Valley Water Supply.
