The North Dakota State Water Commission
http://www.swc.state.nd.us
This website is a valuable resource to North Dakota
irrigators, providing information on subjects such as
water resources, permits, and water laws and policies.
Some areas irrigators would likely visit on the website
are:
· Data on
ground water resources. To get directly to that
section, the user must
simply click on the "Map and Data
Resources" tab on the left side of the screen,
then click on the "Ground / Surface Water"
link near the middle of the page. This
link provides logs of test holes, water
levels, and water quality, if available.
· The section
entitled "Well Contractors," which can also be found
under the "Map
and Data Resources" tab includes the
completion reports for private wells
completed since January 1, 1972.
· Permit
information and applications. Click on the "permit" tab
on the left side of the
screen, then on the appropriate link
near the middle of the page.
The Natural
Resources Conservation Service's (NRCS) Agricultural
Water Enhancement Program (AWEP) is a voluntary
conservation initiative that provides financial and
technical assistance to agricultural producers to
implement agricultural water enhancement activities on
agricultural land for the purposes of conserving surface
and ground water and improving water quality. As part of
the
Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP),
AWEP operates through contracts with producers to plan
and implement conservation practices in project areas
established through partnership agreements. Under AWEP,
the NRCS enters into partnership agreements with
eligible entities that want to promote ground and
surface water conservation or improve water quality on
agricultural lands. The Secretary of Agriculture has
delegated the authority for AWEP to the NRCS Chief.
